Every church needs to have a mission and purpose statement that answers the question – why do we exist? At W.I.R.L. Ministries (Walk In Righteous Living Ministries) our mission and purpose statements acts as filters, that everything we do goes through.
Our mission is simple; we exist to reach the people of the greater Waterbury area with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ in a practical and understanding way so that they can become fully devoted followers of Him. To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to develop responsible, productive and successful Christians in their Walk In Righteous Living. To heal the broken hearted and to set the captives free through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Our purpose is to develop followers of Christ who love God, connect together, serve others and reach their world. We believe that our mission and purpose help us to fulfill both the commandment and commission of Jesus to His followers. These are stated in two teachings of Jesus:
The Great Commandment:
Jesus said unto him, “ ‘Thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.’ “This is the first and great commandment. “And the second is like unto it: ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.’ “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
The Great Commission
“Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)
The process we employ at W.I.R.L. Ministries is summed up in four significant and strategic words that each relate to a part of the process. Those words are love, connect, serve and reach.
